Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to head to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Seekers and Strategists tables.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
