'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith renews battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the dramatic closing stages of his team's epic comeback victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles after the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful effort from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess quickly slammed home the loose ball before sprinting toward the East Stand to celebrate, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory capped an unbelievable recovery given the team had been behind 2-0 deep into the second half. During the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. He shared, "There was a fan trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result booked a next round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's first-time shot from about way out going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for having a go from that distance," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right wing-back after the team changed shape. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way his former team approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they understand how to control and neutralize a game. You can think you're all right and then abruptly they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It takes a strong mentality and attention just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a popular figure across a couple of years at his former club and has quickly done the same in Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford, before he departed Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without real physicality. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that growth for both domestically and internationally, excelling for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including both legs encounters against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This marks a remarkable path for the youngster from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who used to see his father, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

The player's single match for United came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was shut owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "It was a extended travel and it was cold out there," he comments, grinning. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "It was quite easy, because I got to the stage where I knew I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I thought I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

New Environment

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a small coach driven by academy staff, the drivers, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include a teammate, another squad member, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to socialize with the guys but I'm aiming to be the next one out of the minibus and driving. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would blend in with followers on the Tube after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
